Kay Nix went home to be with the Lord on Friday May 20th.
She was born on September 9th 1939 in Duncan Oklahoma to Preston “Boss” Taylor and Oleta Barham Taylor.
She attended school in Camanche Oklahoma, where she played the tenor saxophone and was a Majorette.
On May 14th 1964, Kay married the love of her life, Gilbo Nix in Wichita Falls, Texas. Together they had three boys; Von, Barry Lynn, and Heath.
They had 40 wonderful years together. In those 40 years, they enjoyed traveling, boating, camping, cruises, and riding their bicycles.
Kay was a wonderful cook. She was especially known for her chicken fried steak and gravy. Kay prided herself on being a homemaker and housewife, but Kay also worked as a seamstress at Haggar’s Men’s Clothing.
Kay was an athlete. She played semi-pro softball and fast pitch in Oklahoma, and also with the Bremerton Angels. She also coached youth girls softball.
Kay bowled at HI Joy Bowling Alley on the Housework Dodgers League for over 30 years.
Kay loved to host company. Whether announced or not, you were welcomed with a fresh pot of coffee and warm baked goods – or sweet tea depending on what time of day you stopped by.
Kay loved her church family. She has been an active member at First Baptist Church for over 50 years.
After Kay lost Gilbo in April of 2004, she sold their house and bought a waterfront condo that she loved very much and showed great pride in.
Kay will be greatly missed by our whole family.
