Howard L. Horn, 67 of Port Orchard died of a heart attack at the family home on Sept. 4th. He was born April 29, 1940 to George and Ethel (McMillan) Horn in Burley, ID. He graduated from Shoshone HS, ID in 1958 and attended Olympic College in Bremerton. Howard married Carol D. Meeks on May 24, 1975 in Suquamish, WA. He served 20 years in the US Navy as a Nuclear Engineman, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer and did 9 tours in Viet Nam, retiring in 1980. Howard was awarded 4 good conduct medals. He was active in 4-H, enjoyed woodworking, model building, small engine repair, farm work, working with horses (riding and performing them). His animals were a chocolate lab 'Cocoa' and appie horse 'Chick'. He is survived by his loving wife Carol, sons Steve (Liisa) Horn, John (Suzy Skelton) Horn and Kenneth Horn; daughter Charleen Chance; sisters Evelyn (Fred) Long of Island Park, ID, Barbara (Jack) Suesz of Lewiston, ID and 3 grandchildren Chere, Cory and Doug. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday Sept. 14th 11:00 am at Fraola Cemetery in Port Orchard, with a celebration of life to follow at the family home.
