Joseph E. Jolley, Jr., 82, a resident of Port Orchard, peacefully left this life to go fishing with Jesus, surrounded by family on March 17, 2012. He was born in Ignigma, GA on September 24, 1929 to Joseph and Minnie (Wood) Jolley. He graduated from high school in Mena, AR and took some college courses while in Anaheim, CA. He married Beverly M. Jordan on January 1, 1950 and she preceded him in death in 2008. He served in the US Navy from 1947 to 1951. He received a Korean Service, Good Conduct, Navy Occupation and China Service medal. He was stationed on four different ships - the USS Gregory, USS St Paul, USS Atlanta and USS Iowa. After his time in the Navy, he went to work as a Mail Carrier for 33 years, 15 in California and 18 in Bremerton, retiring in 1991. He also owned and operated an Exxon Gas Station in CA and worked for McDonald Douglas as a mechanic. He enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds in his yard and really loved his dogs Herman and Max and his cat Sasquatch. He was a rock hounder and fisherman, poet and song writer. He was a member of Faith Life Church in Port Orchard; enjoyed reading his Bible and his greatest love was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his son Michael J. Jolley; daughters Sharon D. Weber (Dave Hult), Nita Y. Klinger (Peter) and Donna Jolley; 3 brothers Ben Jolley of SC, David Shurley of AR and Arthur Shurley of AR; 4 sisters Millie Huyer of CA, Joy Watson of AR, Mary Looney (Pete) of AR and Betty Womac (Jim) of TN ; 5 grandchildren Chay Klinger (Doreen), Chad Klinger, Ken Shattuck, Ron Weber and Josh Weber (Tiffany); and 5 great-grandchildren Tristan, Gavin, Isobel Klinger, Shayna Klinger and Katelynn Shattuck; and special friends Pat and Kris Waters and Danielle Head. He was preceded in death by sisters Monette Nice, Martha Music and Dora Jolley and brother Sonny Boy Shurley. Committal service will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard on Friday, March 30th at 11:30 am.
