Mabel W. Carter of Manchester, Washington (for over 55 years), died of natural causes on June 1, 2006 in Gig Harbor, Washington. She was 97. She was born in Ovita, Washington November 27, 1908 to Cornelius and Catherine (Kulberg) Bush of Enumclaw, Washington. She married James Eugene Carter on November 16, 1929 in Seattle, Washington. Mabel graduated from Enumclaw High School in Enumclaw, Washington in 1927. She worked as secretary for 10 years at Puget Sound Shipyard - retiring in 1966. She was was a clerk/Typist. Mabel was a member of Elim Luthern Church for 53 years; member of Order of Eastern Star for 50 years; National Association of Retired Federal Employees; and, Friends of the Manchester Library. She enjoyed gardening, reading, travel, fishing and a was a devoted homemaker. Mabel is survived by son - Jim Carter (Helen) of Chelan, Washington; daughter - Dorothy Smith (Rex) of Manchester, Washington; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren;6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by spouse - James E. Carter and daughter - Jeannette Olson. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard, Washington.
