Margaret Elva Buell, 88, of Port Orchard, passed away April 5th at home with family by her side.
Margaret was born April 8, 1934, in Wales, Iowa to Elva (Calkin) and Clifford N. Vestal. She graduated from Climbing Hill, IA in 1952. Afterwards, she continued her education and worked for a geological survey service in Sioux City, IA. Sioux City is where she met her late husband John Daniel Buell. They were married in Climbing Hill in 1956.
For the next eight years, she made a home for her family in several states. Margaret and John finally located in Port Orchard in 1964 and spent 57 years together. For about 20 years, Margaret work for the South Kitsap School District with the Food and Nutrition Services. While serving hundreds of meals to children, she was nicknamed “grandma,” which she enjoyed.
Margaret was a member of the South Colby United Methodist Church; a 55 year member of the Order of Eastern Star #44; and past Mother Advisor of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls #61.
She is survived by her sister Nancy Vanden Boom (WI); her four children: daughter Corlee Frederick (OR); sons Clifford (Port Orchard), Darron (Port Orchard), and Darcy (Silverdale). Also, four grandchildren: Calandra Kallstrom and Neal Frederick (OR), Micah and Tristan Buell (Silverdale); and two great-grandchildren: Layla and Theodore Kallstrom (OR).
Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, brother Leroy, and one grandchild Jerid.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12 at 1:00 PM at Rill Chapel, 1151 Mitchell Ave., Port Orchard, WA. Burial will follow at the Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
