Norma Davis

Norma Lucille Davis, 90, died March 19, 2011 in Destin, FL.  She was born May 9, 1920 in Los Angeles, CA the daughter of Dewey Franklin & Norma Louise (Wallace) Littlefield, Sr., who both preceded her in death.  She married George W. Davis who also preceded her in death in 1987 in Bremerton. Norma was a Pearl Harbor survivor and was evacuated from Honolulu, HI on December 25, 1941 with her 8 month old son George aboard the SS Lurline.  As a world traveler she made many trips to England, Ireland, Europe & Iceland as well as Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.  She lived for a year at Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands.  In 1972 she retired from the county of Los Angeles probation Department where she was Supervisor of Files at Central Juvenile Hall. She is survived by children Cmdr. George D. Davis, Sr., of Destin, FL; daughter Kealani Louise Davis of Port Orchard, WA; grandchildren Phillip Marshall Davis of Fairbanks, AK, Kealani Alexandrea Smith of Fairbanks, AK, George Dewey Davis, Jr. of Daphne, AL, Sandra Louise Bates of Paw Paw, MI; great-grandchildren George III (Trey), Simon, Tyler, Michael, Jessica, Jacob & Josh. She was a member of O.E. S. #44, Port orchard and port Orchard Eagles Aux #2338.  A Life member and twice president of American legion Aux #287, Wilmington, CA.  She was a charter member of the Navy Wives Club of American #13 of Honolulu, HI which was formed just prior to World War II in 1940. She was a Christian and a member of Plymouth Congregational Church of Los Angeles, CA.  She was wife, Mother, avid traveler, hopeless gambler, loved sports, body surfing & swimming.  Most of all she loved life – her friends, and found joy in Cats – especially the last one “Pretty Baby”.  Her new life in 1999 at Canterbury Manor in Bremerton was great and she truly loved the friends she made there. Graveside service 2:00 pm on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.  In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity.
