Robert Edward Sapp, was born January 20, 1944 in Port Orchard, Washington at the county hospital to Wilson and Irene Sapp. Bob graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1962. He met his wife, Melode Gourlie, on a blind date and the two were married in 1964. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage, having two sons, Wilson and Ronald. Bob became an apprentice meat cutter in 1964. He worked for Safeway and then for Keith Uddenberg Inc., Thriftway and Market Foods managing meat / seafood markets in Port Orchard, Gig Harbor and Belfair until poor health caused him to retire. He enjoyed working his gold mining claims in the North Cascades. Bob and his wife Melode enjoyed exploring the country in their motor home. He had many hobbies; fishing, model trains and his favorite – classic cars. He enjoyed being a member of the Saints Car Club of Port Orchard and showing off his 1965 Thunderbird. He joined the Eagles when he was 21 and was a member of the Port Orchard Eagles most of his life. He was an avid history buff and studied the Civil War and World War II. He also loved woodworking and carving. Most of all, Bob enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He passed away December 17, 2011 in Bremerton. He was preceded in death by his father Wilson Sapp, his stepfather Lee Chronkhite, his mother Irene Sapp Cronkhite and his childhood friend Scott Macomber. Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years Melode and his two beloved sons, Wilson Sapp and Ronald Sapp, plus his aunts and cousins all of whom were very dear to him. A memorial service will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2012.
