Stanley Bishop

November 28, 1928 — December 29, 2011

Stan Bishop devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 29th at the age of 83 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. Born in Cumberland, Maryland to his parents George and Margaret Bishop, he graduated from Allegany High School class of 1946. Stan served in the Air Force for 4 years at Cape Canaveral, Florida with the first guided missile squadron. He continued with the missile program in Florida for The Boeing Company; 2 years in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and 6 years at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. Stan then went to the commercial side of the company in customer support in Seattle, WA where he had the opportunity to travel all over the world before retiring in 1988. Stan and Patty moved to Lakeland Village, Allyn (1990) where he served as a representative on the Pacific Northwest Golf Association and the Washington State Golf Association. Stan and Patty mentored 5 young adults to the Evans Scholarship program at the University of Washington.  Stan spent many enjoyable hours golfing and camping with family and friends. He was very active with the Twin Lakes Golf & Country Club in Federal Way, WA where he served as their third president. Stan loved golf, football, basketball, baseball, & fishing in Canada. Everyone he met was a friend or an extended part of the family.  Stan is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Patty Sue, and their 4 children daughter Dawn and husband Bob Gibson of Puyallup, WA, son Dean and wife Jennifer Bishop of Federal Way, daughter Diane Bishop-Gullikson and husband Dan Gullikson of Federal Way, and son Dru Bishop of Federal Way. Dan Bishop their oldest son was tragically killed in a car accident in 1988. Stan loved his 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  A Christian funeral service will be held on January 6, 3:00pm at North Bay Lutheran Community Church at East 221 Lakeland Drive in Allyn,WA. Graveside service will be held on Monday January 9, 1:00 pm located at Mountain View Cemetery at 2020 Mountain View Drive, Auburn, WA. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Stan Bishop to the Cancer Association or to the North Bay Lutheran Community Church. Online memorial at www.rill.com .
