Victor "Bill" Smith

Victor W. "Bill" Smith, 86, of Port Orchard, Washington died at Ridgemont Terrace on January 5, 2006. He was born on September 20, 1919 in Seattle, Washington to William H. & Dori (Oliver) Smith. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard in 1939 and attended Olympic College in Bremerton. Bill married Maxine Therkelsen on May 24, 1941 in Seattle. Bill worked for more than 30 years as a Machinist at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, retiring in 1976. He also served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945. Bill enjoyed collecting stamps, golf, hiking, fishing, bowling, and was an avid reader. He was devoted to his family. Bill was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard and was the International President of "Active Club International". Surviving are his wife; sons David (Pamela) Smith of Port Orchard and Bradley (Stacy) Smith of Olalla; daughter Diane (Joe) Hubert of Port Orchard; brother Gerald (Maxine) Smith of Gig Harbor, Washington; sisters Isabelle (Bert) Goe of Bellevue, Washington and Rosena (Max) Levine of Snoqualmie, Washington; grandchildren Andre Langley, Susan Newsom, Stacy Hudgins, Keith Smith, and Sophinn Smith; great-grandchildren Sarah, Jack, Joey, Scotty, Kevin, Ashley, Megan, and Ellie; and nephew Guy (Mary) Lavender. Memorial service is Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made to Elim Mission Endowment Fund or Heifer Project Internation, P.O. Box 8058, Little Rock, AR 72203.
