William Scott

William Robert "Bill" Scott, 83, died at his residence in Port Orchard, Washington on October 3, 2006. He was born in Annapolis, Washington on November 15, 1922 to James Thomas & Sarah Ella (Thomas) Scott. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1940 and married Ferne Gladys Stine on November 5, 1946 in Port Orchard. Bill worked for 37 years as an Engineering Technician at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington retiring in 1977. He was also employed as an Engineering Technician with Art Anderson & Associates for 5 years. Bill served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946 as a Second Class Petty Officer earning the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Port Orchard Church of Christ his entire life. Surviving are his wife Ferne; son Kevin Scott of California; daughters Kathi (Bill) Shaner of Abilene, Texas and Karen (Jeff) Shewmaker of Portland, Oregon; sister Eulalia Wallis of Tacoma, Washington; grandchildren Jennifer Shaner, David Shaner, Darcy Shewmaker, Erin Shewmaker, Scott Shewmaker, Kyle Shewmaker, and Katy Shewmaker. Graveside service on Friday, October 6, 2006 at 11:00 am at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Port Orchard. Memorial Service will be at Port Orchard Church of Christ on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to Roy Merritt Zambia Fund (make checks to Port Orchard Church of Christ), in care of Port Orchard Church of Christ, P.O.
