Alan R. Kono, 48, of Port Orchard died Thursday. Born in Albany, Georgia, to Raymond R. and Paula Mahney (Ray) Kono, he graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1975. He married Jennifer Halverson in 1984, and worked retail for 20 years in Kitsap County, most recently as the owner of PJ's Market in Port Orchard. Mr. Kono was a member of the NRA and attended Christian Life Center in Port Orchard. He enjoyed fishing, politics, cars, and snowmobiling. He is survived by his wife; his children, Jared and Stephanie; his brothers, Lew (Gloria) of Silverdale, Steve (Laurie) of Everett, and Kris Kono of Seattle; and his sisters, Margo (Barney) of Everett, and Tracy Bell of Tacoma. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Christian Life Center, with burial at Sunset Lane Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made to the "No New Gas Tax" Initiative No. 912.
