Alana Ann Wright, 57, of Port Orchard passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012.
Alana was born in Logan, Utah, April 29, 1955, to Arthur and Dorothy (Watson) Campbell. The family moved from the farm when she was a baby to Cincinnati, Ohio where Alana lived with her five siblings. In 1967 the family moved to Seattle where she attended Tyee High School and was passionately involved in school plays and student government. After graduation, Alana attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She interrupted her education to serve an 18-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santiago, Chile (1976 to 1978). She returned to BYU, resumed her studies, and received her Bachelor degree in Home Economics in 1979.
On March 26, 1981 Alana married the love of her life, Ramon Wright, in the Seattle Temple. They decided to make Port Orchard their home in 1982 where Alana will always be remembered as a dedicated mother, skilled homemaker, and loving wife.
She was committed to an active life of raising their four children and supporting them in all their educational and sporting endeavors. Her love of children and teaching led her to become a substitute teacher in the South Kitsap School District. Alana kept busy with her many her church callings, serving others in her community and maintaining a happy home.
In 2004 Alana was diagnosed with Stage Four breast cancer. She patiently endured all the tests and intensive treatments, later to be additionally diagnosed with bone cancer. She steadfastly continued the fight with prayer and a positive attitude, while following the treatments required by her dedicated physicians, but the cancer would repeatedly reappear in many different forms. Her long, courageous fight ended early Sunday morning at her home in Port Orchard, embraced by her loving family.
Alana loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, serving her family, and fellow man. Her zeal for life was apparent in all she did; being a co-coach for her daughter’s soccer team, and supporting other athletes at the South Kitsap High School Track team as a timer. She was also an avid gardener and enjoyed reading all varieties of books. She loved her country and was active in the Republican Party as a precinct officer.
She is survived by her devoted husband Ramon, sons, Kiel of Port Orchard, Devon of Western WA Univ., daughters, Amaree (Dallin) Blanchard of WA D.C., Lauren of Port Orchard, father Arthur Campbell of Renton, brothers Dean (Tracy) Campbell of Renton, Jeff (Christine) Campbell of LA, CA, sisters Phyllis (Grant) Orr of Vashon Is., Ellen (Jim) Overson of Vancouver, WA, Pam (Jim) Brown of Ft. Saint John’s, B.C. and her first granddaughter due in November.
Public viewing will be on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00pm and Monday Oct. 8, 2012 from 10:00 to 10:45am at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Graveside will be at 11:00 am Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.

Alana greatly appreciated all those who encouraged, supported and helped her in her arduous battle. The goodness and generosity of her medical professionals she valued beyond measure. Her greatest desire was for everyone to have “Love At Home”.
