Albert Walter "Walt" Nelson, 88, died at his residence in Port Orchard, Washington on July 31, 2006. He was born on July 31, 1918 in Corning, California to Albert & Anna (Swanson) Nelson. He graduated from high school in San Francisco and attended college in Santa Clara, California. He married Kathryn Carlson on January 27, 2001 in Lakebay, Washington. Walt owned a restaurant at the Lake Tahoe Airport in California, retiring in 1980. He also owned a radio station and real estate office in Lake Tahoe in the 1960's. Walt owned the San Rafael Airport in the 1940's and 1950's and worked for his Dad's construction company in California. He was an Eagle Scout, 32 degree Mason and Shriner in California, and was a member of Elks in Lake Tahoe and Tacoma. He enjoyed square dancing, wood carving, boating, hunting and fishing. He was also a private pilot. Surviving are wife Kathryn; sons Ronald (Tina) Nelson, Eric (Pat) Nelson, James (Julie) Nelson, all of California, and Carl (Cyndi) Nelson of Olympia, Washington; daughters Carolyn Franklin of California and Diane (Pat) Grant of Lakebay; and grandchildren Julia Skay, Matthew Franklin, Ronald Nelson, Jr., Adam Nelson, Soren Nelson, and Paul Reinwand. Funeral service Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 11:00 am at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of Kitsap County, P.O.
