Alice Mae Cruzan

October 5, 1919 — December 5, 2014

Alice Cruzan, 95, died in Port Orchard on December 5, 2014. She was born October 5, 1919 to Minnie and Ted Ruhd in Wolf Point, Montana.

The family moved south of the river to a small farm where she went to grade school in a little one room school house. She attended Wolf Point High School and Circle High School. Upon graduating from high school she went to work at the county extension agent’s office. After about a year there, she got a second job at the seed loan offices. She also worked at a small café for her uncle. She then moved back to Wolf Point and got a job at a café where she worked for 2 years. She and a friend moved to Grand Coulee while it was being built. Then on to Wenatchee. When the apple harvest was over for the year, she was out of work so the union sent her to Okanagan. There she met and married her first husband. A daughter was born out of that union. In 1944 she moved to Bremerton, then Port Orchard where she has lived ever since. She worked as a waitress for Myhre’s Restaurant for more than 30 years, retiring in the early 90’s.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 3 siblings. She is survived by a daughter and grandson; numerous nieces and nephews in Montana; and longtime friends Mark & Laurie and Steve & Lex of Great Falls, Montana.

Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls, Montana where her husband Lloyd and her parents are buried. Memorial donations may be made to the “Lexi Fund” at Cedar Creek Animal Hospital.
