Our beloved and spunky mother, Alice, 93, was born in Minot, North Dakota on September 6, 1919 to John Hojem (Johannes Johansen) and Emma Berg Hojem, the second to the youngest of three sisters and three brothers. She passed suddenly and peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Harrison Hospital, Bremerton, WA. She was preceded in death by her late husband of 56 years, Hyrum Leo Lambert, also of Bremerton and all of her siblings.
Alice and Hyrum first met and lived in Everett. Long ago they moved to Bremerton, where they reared their three sons. Alice was born to 100 percent Norwegian parents and had a wonderfully long life. She and Hyrum spent many winters in Yuma, AZ during their retirement years. Alice also loved their cabin at Ocean Shores, where they entertained family and friends and made many fond memories.
Mom loved dancing which was her number one passion. Hyrum and Alice won many dancing contests over the years and we are sure she is “Dancing” with Dad in heaven now. She was in such good health until her passing that she went dancing this past Sunday at the Pt. Orchard Eagles with her eldest son, Denny. She also loved her cozy waterfront home, watching the ferries pass, and was known amongst her family and friends to love her favorite cocktail: “whisky/water in a bucket with a lemon twist”. Alice was a wonderful homemaker and loving mother. Her spirited nature and strong independence kept her living in her own home until her sudden passing. They were members of the Eagles, Elks and Sons of Norway.
Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Michelle) Lambert of Purdy, Richard (Meredith) Lambert of Gig Harbor and Darrell (Gail) Lambert of Edgewood; seven grandchildren, David (Shawna) Lambert, Lynn (Rich) Dormaier both of Poulsbo, Matthew (Kristen) Lambert of Hawaii, Felise (Quinn) Zander-Conn of Des Moines, and Andy, Zach and Hallie Lambert, all of Los Angeles, CA, as well as seven great grandchildren and several nieces and their families.
Viewing will be today, Saturday, January 19, at Rill Chapel Life Tribute Center, Port Orchard, WA from 2:00 to 3:00pm.
