Alice L. Puryear, 88, died at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington on July 28, 2000. She was born in Rangoon, Burma on March 10, 1912 to Samuel E. & Marietta (Everett) Miner. She graduated from Alhambra High School in Alhambra, California and L.A. Harbor College in Harbor City, California. Alice married Lewis H. Puryear who preceded her in death in 1957. Her second husband, C. Edward Ahrens also died in 1957.Mrs. Puryear worked as a Dental Assistant in San Pedro, California and a Key Punch Operator at Long Beach Naval Shipyard in Long Beach, California. She retired in 1978. Alice was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting.Surviving are son Kenneth (Donna) Puryear of Bremerton; daughter Kay Flanagan of Lancaster, California; brothers Arthur Miner of Clearlake Oaks, California, Gordon Miner of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and Robert Miner of San Diego, California; 3 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers James, Howard, and Everett Miner.There will be a private family gathering in Lancaster, California at a later date.
