Allyne “Ally” Baker, 96, died Nov. 16, 2015 at an East Bremerton assisted living facility.
She previously had lived at The Willows retirement home and Kariotis Mobile Home Park, both in East Bremerton, and in Port Orchard.
She had worked in banking at Seattle First National, National Bank of Commerce, Rainier Bank and U.S Bank. She had been a bookkeeper with the George Snyder accounting firm in Port Orchard.
She was born to Mabel and Roy Byers in Preston, Minnesota on June 2, 1919, and was raised and graduated high school there. She met her future husband, Jordell, in Preston. They moved to Port Orchard in 1945, to a home the family built on Bethel-Burley Road.
They ran Jan’s Ice Cream, a diner where Comfort Inn now is in Port Orchard, in the 1940s.
She enjoyed league bowling, bridge, country line and other dancing, and golf.
She was a longtime member of Bremerton Elks, where she often served for the Saturday Hamburgers on the Patio.
Jordell died in 1991. Allyne is survived by daughter, Allyson Mansfield (Charles)of Lawton, Oklahoma; son, Travis Baker of Port Orchard; granddaughters, Kristi Cartwright (Tom) of Plano, Texas and Beth Toledo (Abraham) of Port Orchard; grandsons, Eric Baker (Becky) of Tacoma and Robert Guyler of Texas; and five great-grandchildren.
