Alton "ABY" B. Youngs, 86 of Silverdale, died in Bremerton on November 7, 2008. He was born in Port Gamble to Frank and Alta (Davis) Youngs, the middle of 7 children. He graduated in 1940 from what is now Central Kitsap High School. He married Lillian Jodry in May of 1943 and they had 3 children. At a young age, he worked for his dad at the Silverdale Lumber Yard. He started his machinist apprenticeship at Keyport before going in the Army during World War II. After returning from the war, he finished his apprenticeship at PSNS, then operated heavy equipment for Kitsap County Road District. He retired from Keyport in 1982 as a Tool and Die Maker. ABY was a prize winning trap shooter in numerous states. He also enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. In retirement, he and Lillian wintered in the RV making the circuit of Arizona Gun Clubs and spent the Summer months playing with their grandchildren. Alton leaves behind Lillian, his loving wife of 65 years; son Frank (Lee) Youngs of Silverdale; daughters Jeannette (Bob) Longstreth of La Connor, and Dana Sinclair of Silverdale; 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; sister Renee of Hoodsport; brother Verne of Poulsbo; and many loving nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Curtis, Maurice, Eugene and sister Phyllis. There will be an open house on Saturday, November 15th at the family home.
