Amber Hay

Amber L. Hay, 61, a resident of Gig Harbor, formerly of Port Orchard, died in Bremerton of natural causes on January 15, 2008. She was born in East Chicago, Indiana to Bernard and Loretta (Mackin) Smith on September 30, 1946. She graduated from John R. Rogers High School in Spokane in 1964. She completed an apprenticeship as a Pipefitter-Insulator at PSNS and continued working there for 33 years retiring in 2005. Amber was a member of the Kitsap Saddle Club, Washington State Horseman and Canal Zone where she won many awards for her horsemanship. She enjoyed collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia, sewing, quilting, horses and family. She was preceded in death by her father and is survived by her mother Loretta of Bremerton; loving son Terry McEntire of Gig Harbor; brothers Mike Smith of Bremerton, Steve Smith (Lori) of Port Orchard; sisters Mary DeTienne of Tacoma and Carrie Mackin of Bremerton and numerous aunts and uncles. Celebration of Life and light reception will be held at Rill?s Life Tribute Center, 1151 Mitchell Ave., Port Orchard on Wednesday, January 23 at 2:00 pm. A gathering will follow at the Kitsap Saddle Club. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ambers name to American Diabetes Ass?n, PMB 202, 8205 E. Martin Way, E. Olympia, WA 98516-5769.
