Andrew Maier, 88, of Port Orchard, Washington, died June 25, 2001, at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington.Andrew was born January 28, 1913, in Eureka, South Dakota, to Jacob and Margaret (Lindeman) Maier. He was educated in Eureka. Andrew served as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1934 to 1938. On September 27, 1937, Andrew married Marie Ester Hinsz in Aberdeen, South Dakota.Andrew was a welder for 28 years at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington, before working for 2 years as a building inspector with the City of Port Orchard. He retired in 1972.He enjoyed gardening, horseshoe pitching, and sports.Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marie Maier, of Port Orchard; sons, Dale Maier and Steve Maier, both of Port Orchard; daughters, Darlean Hanner, of Bellevue, Washington, Audrey Samuelson, of Hansville, Washington, and Beverly Godfrey, of Silverdale, Washington; brothers, Gottheilf Maier, of Jamestown, North Dakota, and Alfred Maier, of Austin, Texas; sister, Hildegard Baumann, of Ashley, North Dakota; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.Visitation will be held Saturday, June 30, from 9AM to 1PM at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. Services will be held 3PM, Saturday, June 30, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.
