Ann Floyd Riley, 85, died peacefully on March 15, 2015, after a long battle with
congestive heart failure, complicated by diabetes. She was born on March 6, 1930, in
Portsmouth, Virginia to Ernest Frisbee Floyd and Julia Combs Floyd. Ann grew up in
Portsmouth and graduated from Churchland High School in 1947. In 1958, she married Michael
Terrence Riley, whom she met while singing in the Naval Hospital Chapel choir.
Ann's passion was music. At the young age of nine, she began singing in school plays.
Through out their married lives, she and Michael continued to sing in church choirs wherever
they were stationed. As evidenced by her long career as the director of Navy Relief for the
Bremerton area, Ann believed strongly in helping others. She was also on the board of directors
for Port Orchard's Chuck Wagon, as well as the Bremerton Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Ann was honored with the Clara Barton award for her volunteer work with the Red Cross.
Ann liked swimming and relaxing at her Lake Symington cabin. She enjoyed having her
children, grandchildren and great grandchildren visit her there, especially on 4th of July. Ann
was also an active member of the board for the home owners association there.
Surviving are son Gregory (Deborah) Johnson of Tukwila, WA.; daughters, Robin (J)
Sundberg of San Jose, CA and Linda (Ron Kropp) Riley; grandchildren, Michael Johnson of
Marysville, WA, Emily (Matt)Tabor of Issaquah, WA, Erik (Maria) Sundberg and Evan Sundberg
of San Jose, CA. Great Grandchildren include Holly Sundberg, and Zoey and Emmett Tabor.
