Arlene Hazel Helm, 88 of Port Orchard, WA died May 12, 2008. She was born January 20, 1920 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Edgehill Lee & Emma Rose (Cooper) Persinger. She graduated from Yakima HS in 1937 and married Kenneth Helm on February 3, 1975 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Arlene was a restaurant owner and chef for 50 years, retiring in 1979. She traveled extensively between Washington and Alaska, also serving as an interpreter and missionary to Alaskan natives. She also owned an Art Studio in Puyallup, and Floral & Gift shops in Puyallup and Sitka, AK. She enjoyed art, cooking, fishing, gardening and her cats "Daisy May" & "Felix" and her dog "Luke". She was a member of Granddaughters of the American Revolution & Port Orchard Seventh Day Adventist Church. Surviving are husband Kenneth; son Dennis Happy of Port Orchard; daughter Blanche Kidd of Prosser, WA; grandchildren Kim, Brenda, Shawn & Lee Kidd; great-grandchildren Bradley, Calvin, Matthew, Colette & Alexia, & great-great-grandson Brandon Clarke. She was preceded in death by brothers Arnold & Edgehill and sisters Averell Spencer & Delores Mortenson.
