Arnie Henyan
August 26, 1944 to March 21, 2015
Arnie passed away March 21 at St Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma of a massive brain trauma
He was born August 26, 1944 in Kearney, Nebraska to Wilbur and Charlotte (Brooks) Henyan He married Laura (Kuligowski) Henyan in Carson City, Nevada on April 2. 1987.
He is survived by his wife Laura, his children, Kristen Hamrick and Kevin Henyan (Brystie), his grandson Caleb, his sister, Karen Nickson, numerous nieces and nephews and adopted grandchildren
He went to school at Marcus Whitman Jr High and graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1962. He played baseball for both schools.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 36 years, in the Radiological Control Office where he was a technician, supervisor and instructor retiring in 2000.
He loved sports and played softball until the early 80s, but he continued to be an avid fan of the softball teams his friends played for. He followed those teams all over the state, and to Florida.
He was passionate about fishing. He had his own boat and took his friends and family fishing and crabbing whenever he could. He has fished in Alaska, Hawaii and Florida. His last fishing trip, in Florida, was a dream come true, those on the boat were catching a fish almost every minute, he caught a baby hammerhead shark.
He loved to travel and was planning a trip to Silverwood with two of his grandsons and two of his nieces. He planned a road trip to visit the National Parks in California and Utah in September
He was passionate about his 4 special kids..Caleb, Shea, D’Andre and Kenna. They would spend the summers with him and he was already making plans for activities this summer.
Per his request, there will be no services The family is planning a retirement party for his son, Kevin, to celebrate 21 years in the army. We will now include a celebration of Arnie’s life in that party.
He will be sorely missed
