Arthur Cook, 78, died at his home in Port Orchard with his family by his side on February 25th of Mesothelioma caused by Asbestos. Arthur was born April 8, 1932 in Phelps, KY to Claude & Mandy (McCoy) Cook. He married Phyllis Meigs in Port Orchard on January 10, 1953. Arthur worked as a Maintenance Foreman at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1993. He previously worked as an Insurance Salesman, Coal Miner, roofer & Car Salesman. Arthur served in the US Army as a Sgt from 1952 to 1955. Arthur enjoyed watching all of his kids, grandkids & great grandkids playing sports. He liked rare exotic birds of all kinds. He was a member of the Masons, Professional Manager’s Association, Hound Club, and was a little league coach. Surviving are wife Phyllis; sons Leonard & Johnny (Cindy) Cook, both of Port Orchard; daughters Lois (Billy) Caudill of Port Orchard & Candi (Steve) Collyer of Modesto, CA; brothers Joe (Onice) Cook of Salem, VA, Aubrey (Lola) Stacy, Adam (Rosalee) Stacy, Bill (Margaret) Stacy all of Abingdon, VA, & Clyde Stacy of Bristol, TN; sisters Mable Robinson of Detroit MI, Ruby Cornette of Bristol, VA, Bertha (Ward) Goodwin of Keen Mountain, VA & Mary (Casey) Sollien of Abingdon, VA; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Celebration of Life Service at 1:30pm on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Burial following at Sunset Lane Memorial Park. Online memorial at
