Arthur Huntington

Arthur Stoddard Huntington, 78, died at his home in Port Orchard, Washington on February 12, 2007. He was born in Maywood, California on March 25, 1928 to Albert Banks & Bessie (White) Huntington. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in Spanish Fork, Utah in 1942 and from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington with a Bachelors Degree in Physics in 1945. Arthur married Mary Marilyn Stevens on June 10, 1961 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Arthur retired as a Health Physicist after 42 years in Hanford, Washington. He served with General Electric, ARHCO, Westinghouse, and Fluor in radiation protection and health physics, providing protection for the Nuclear Defense Weapons Program and commercial nuclear power reactors. He also served in the Merchant Marines from 1942 to 1944. Arthur enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, train collections, and woodsmanship. He was a High Priest and Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and also belonged to Boy Scouts of America. Surviving are his wife Mary; sons Michael Frank (Brenda) Huntington of Tonasket, Washington and Steven A. (Julianne) Huntington of Lynchburg, Virginia; daughters Elizabeth (John) Carr of Blaine, Washington, Valerie Ann Huntington of Bellingham, Washington, Annette (Jeffrey) Welton of Maple Valley, Washington, and Roxa Christianne (Levan) Goodey of Los Alamos, New Mexico; sister Betty Smith of Spanish Fork, Utah; 21 grandhildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter Natasha Ross. He was preceded in death by his first wife Wilma Jean Robison, daughter Patricia Irene Huntington, grandson Michael Renfro, brothers Burt, Chick & John Huntington, and sisters Lori Huntley and Mildred Huntington. Memorial Service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Hoover Avenue in Port Orchard.
