Aubrey Hammer

Aubrey Monroe ‘Dub’ Hammer, 70, a resident of Longbranch, WA died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in Bremerton. He was born in Bend, Oregon on June 10, 1938 to Archie and Mildred (Retzloff) Hammer and attended schools there. He married Veta F. Breshears in Reno in 1961 and she preceded him in death in January of 2004. He was also preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Monroe Hammer. He served in the United States Navy from January of 1957 to July of 1961 achieving the rank of Third Class Petty Officer. He later went to work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a Pipefitter in Shop 56 until his retirement in 1993 for a total of 29 years federal service. He was protestant and enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood working. He is survived by his son Joseph Jay Hammer of Port Orchard; two grandchildren Savannah and Hayley and cousin Leo Hammer (Tammy). Graveside service will be at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to DAV (Disabled American Veterans), 2315 Burwell, Bremerton, WA 98312.
