Audrey Morrow

August 15, 1920 — October 18, 2010

Audrey June Morrow, devoted family member and caring community member, passed away unexpectedly on October 18, 2010.  She was born Audrey June Dunham on August 15, 1920 to Roy & Irene (Aino in Finnish) Dunham in Sidney, BC, and then became a naturalized American citizen.  Although she grew up in Arlington and Poulsbo, she graduated from high school in Nome, AK.  Returning to North Kitsap, she met her future husband Thomas G. (Gerry) Morrow.  They married in January of 1942 at Ford d'Fjord Lutheran Church in Poulsbo and lived happily for nearly 40 years until his untimely death in 1981. Audrey, although nurturing her two daughters and young son, found time to contribute to her community by serving as a member of the United Good Neighbors, offering aid and assistance to fire victims (her husband was a volunteer firefighter) and spent decades supporting Children's Orthopedic Hospital, most recently being a very active member in the Dr. G.L. Allen Guild and also the League of Women Voters, as well as the Harper-Southworth Community Club.  She was very active in All Saints Lutheran Church in San Diego and Christ Lutheran Church in Pascagoula, MS.  But she always felt at home serving the community of Elim Lutheran Church in Waterman and was very active in the southwest synod of the ELCA.  She was also an accomplished artist, pianist, and loved to cook and serve others.  She received degrees in art from Mesa College and the University of California, San Diego.  Audrey retired from Kitsap County Community Development as a building inspector. Audrey is preceded in death by her grandmother Sofia Lypsinmaa; mother Irene (Aino) Jacobs; father Roy Dunham; and husband Thomas G. (Gerry) Morrow.  She is survived by daughter Dianne; sons Robert (Laura) & their children Kirsten, Brandon, Jack & Shane of Gilbert, AZ; Jeffery (Ruriko) and their children Emily & Ken of Okinawa, Japan, as well as Sandra Sawyer (Kent) and their children Troy & Kendra of Bend, OR. She is also survived by daughter Suzanne and her daughter Christy & her children Courtney, Savanna and son Billy Blackwell and his children Brittany, Bethany, Jasmin Jayeden, Billy Jr., & Chloe, as well as great-great-granddaughter Lillian, all of Washington.  And she is survived by her son Thomas G. Morrow, Jr, his son Thomas G. (Gerry) Morrow III of Washington, as well as a granddaughter and great-granddaughter from Texarkana, TX Public visitation will be 6:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, October 21st at Rill's Life Tribute Center, 1151 Mitchell Avenue, Port Orchard.  Memorial service will be held the first week of November at Elim Lutheran Church, 5911 East Hillcrest Drive, Port Orchard.  Date and time to be determined.
