Bea Emil, age 95, of Port Orchard, Wash. passed away peacefully Jan. 18, 2015.
She was born on March 16, 1919 to Leo and Eva (Kautzman) Kopp in Mandan, North Dakota.
She married Harry Emil December 29, 1941 in Mandan, North Dakota.
Bea and Harry moved to Seattle in 1947. She worked at the Boeing Company as a tool shop technician for 25 years and retired in 1979. After Harry passed away in 1979, she moved to Lake Holiday, Gig Harbor and in 1989 moved to Port Orchard.
She enjoyed gardening and was past president of the Vaughn Garden Club. She was also very active in and past president of the Vaughn Senior Society. She belonged to the Key Peninsula Sportsman’s Club and was chairman for their annual Fisherman’s Breakfast for 10 years.
Bea enjoyed playing cards the best, whether it be bridge, pinochle, rummy or poker.
She crocheted all her life, making many Afghans for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She is also famous for her crocheted “bags to bags” where she magically took 160 plastic grocery bags, cut them in strips, tied them together and crocheted a beautiful new bag.
Bea loved going to Reno. She made many bus trips down there and for her 70th and 80th birthdays the kids gave her Reno trips.
The Mariner’s were her favorite sports team. She couldn’t wait for them to start a new season and rarely missed a game on TV.
She was preceded in death by both parents; 3 brothers; her husband of 38 years Harry; her son Harry Jr.; and her daughter Angela.
She is survived by 2 sisters; brother; daughter Sylvia (Lanny) Johnson, son Steve (Paula) Emil, daughter Gail (Allen) Melton, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She will be truly missed and loved by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, February 27, 2015, 11:00am.
