Bert Braaten

Bert M. Braaten, 87,died at Ridgemont Terrace in Port Orchard on February 19, 1999.  He was born August 11, 1911 in Olalla, Washington to Austin O. & Marit P. (Hoven) Braaten.  Bert married Imma Hennick October 26, 1935.  Imma preceded him in death in 1995.  Mr. Braaten worked in a variety of professions including Commercial Fisherman, Fire Marshall, Logging, and was employed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.  He retired as a General Contractor in 1993.Survivors include daughter Elaine Gaudette of Port Orchard, WA; brothers Clarence of Port Orchard, John of Gig Harbor, and Dean of Gig Harbor; sisters Alice Anderson of Oso, WA, Irene Lavo of North Carolina, Mary Wright of Blaine, WA, and Aggie Stornelli of Port Orchard; grandchildren Melani Sallee of Roundup, MT, Marc Gaudette of San Francisco, CA, Nicole Gaudette of Seattle; and 3 great-grandchildren.  Bert was preceded in death by sister Clara Fagerud and son Melvin Braaten.Memorial service February 24, 1999 at 1:00 PM at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.  Memorials to charity of choice.
