Bert Snider,

Bert Meader Snider, Jr., 77, died at his home in Port Orchard, Washington on December 1, 2000. He was born on February 24, 1923 in Silver City, New Mexico to Bert & Lillian (Garner) Snider. Bert married LaVelle Miller on December 3, 1949 in Santa Anna, California.Mr. Snider worked for 20 years as an Electrical Engineer for Bell Telephone, retiring in 1988. Bert was also a retired Volunteer Fireman, working for District #7 for 20 years. He served in the U.S. Navy (Submarines) from 1942 to 1966, attaining the rank of E-8 Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of Submarine Veterans of World War II and the Port Orchard Eagles #2338.Surviving are his wife; son Jerry Lee Warnock of Olympia, Washington, sister Mary Agnes Snider of Silver City, New Mexico; 3 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Bert M. Snider III.Memorial Service will be on Friday, December 8, 2000 at 1:00pm at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
