Bertram H. Kniert of Port Orchard, Washington died of cancer at his home January 14, 2004. He was 88. He was born June 20, 1915 in Bellingham, Washington to Gustav and Bertha (Maves) Kniert. Bertram married Lorraine (Hauger)Kniert in Sacramento, California on July 29, 1943. He graduated high school in Kirkland, Washington in 1933; and, served an apprenticeship at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1952. Bertram served in the Airforce as a sergeant from 1942 to 1945. He worked as a Scheduler in Nuclear Power at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 30 years - retiring in 1970. Bertram was past president of Kitsap Mineral and Gem Society. He is survived by wife - Lorraine (Hauger) Kniert of the Port Orchard, Washington family home; son - James H. Kniert (& wife, Carol) of Elma, Washington, Tedd M. Kniert of Owatonna, Minnesota; daughter - Janeen A. Kniert of Gig Harbor, Washington; brother - George B. Kniert of Kirkland, Washington; sister - Annabel B. Jensen of Kirkland, Washington; 3 grandchildren: Lori Lowrance (& husband, Steve), Jeffrey Kniert, Brian Kniert); 2 great-grandchildren: Jacob Lowrance and Blake Lowrance).
