Bessie Fallica

November 24, 1918 — April 1, 2014

Bessie Fallica, 95 of Port Orchard, died April 1, 2014. She was born November 24, 1918 in New York, New York to Dominico & Gusieppina DeLuca. Bessie married Anthony Fallica on June 12, 1938 and he preceded her in death in 2008.
Bessie was a Homemaker and lived in New York City until 1946. She and husband Anthony moved to Long Island, New York and lived in their same home for over 60 years. After her husband passed in 2008, Bessie lived with her son and daughter-in-law in Port Orchard, Washington until January 2013. Bessie lived the remainder of her life at the Life Care Center in Port Orchard, Washington.
She was so proud that she was a New York resident and she told you so. Her favorite saying was "There's nothing like the big apple (New York)". The Song "New York, New York" by Eliza Minnelli was one of her favorite songs. Bessie spoke some Italian that she learned from her mother. She would probably tell you that she had "Moxy". Her grandchildren can remember her telling them to behave or she would "get the wooden spoon." Music filled her home with songs from Tony Benet & Frank Sinatra.
To Bessie, her family was the most important thing, and she showed this through her actions. One of her favorite movies was "Hello Dolly" Barbara Streisand and Walter Matthau. You could usually find Bessie in her kitchen baking & cooking up some traditional Italian food for her friends & family, where life would revolve around the kitchen table, with good times & memories. Bessie cooked with a lot of seafood & garlic, and could often be found having a cup of tea with a neighbor friend. Bessie was known mostly for her hospitality and would often invite even the mailman in for a meal. Bessie also enjoyed crocheting blankets of different colored yarn when her Grandchildren were young. St. Anthony was my Grandparents most beloved Saint & was evident all over their home. She traveled a lot after her children were grown, traveling across the country many times, and especially loved their trips to Portico & Hawaii, where they visited the Japanese Temple. If you walked into Bessie's home, you would see many oriental accents that were mixed in a comfortable Italian home that just made you feel welcome.
She is survived by sons Anthony (Margaret Ann) Fallica of Pittsburgh, PA, Joseph Fallica; grandchildren Jennifer Corey, Michael Fallica & Tony Fallica; great-grandchildren Jessica Corey, Alex Corey and Rachael Fallica. She was preceded in death by Husband Anthony, Parents Dominico & Guiseppina DeLuca, Brother Francesco Costanza; sister Francis Costanza, and daughter-in-law Patricia Fallica.
Funeral Service at 11:00 am on April 8, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Chapel in Bremerton with viewing an hour before the service.
