Bessie Stevens

Bessie L. Stevens, age 96, died April 25, 2002 in Port Orchard, WA. She was born February 26, 1906 in Holland, Arkansas to Joseph and Mary (Parsons) Duran. Bessie attended Holland High School in Holland, Arkansas. On Sept. 25, 1924 she married Emsley Stevens in Conway, Arkansas. Bessie was a homemaker. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Port Orchard. Bessie is survived by her sons Ensley Stevens of Colorado Springs, CO., Roderick Stevens of Roseburg, OR., daughters Mary Brockway of Renton, WA., BettyJo Grover of SilverCity, NM., Hazel Burgette of Davenport, WA., Sharon Stevens of Federal Way, WA., brother Don Duran of Mesquite, TX., sister Eldeene Duran of Conway, AR., 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Ensley Stevens, Oren Stevens, and Wilfred Stevens.Memorial services will be held at the United Methodist Church of Port Orchard, on April 29, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. Committal will be at Sunset Lane Cemetery April 30, 2002 at 2:00 p.m.
