Mama, Betty Entrekin, age 90 died in Port Orchard, WA at our home on October 11, 2017. She was a member of Adventure of Faith Presbyterian Church and a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ. She now resides in Heaven with God and her family and friends who predeceased her.
She was born at home in Ford, KS on August 3, 1927 to George Washington Young and Ollie Pumphrey Young. Her sister, Gene Francis, was born on September 20, 1929.
Her father was a wheat farmer all his life and her mother was a housewife. The family survived the dust bowl of the 1930’s. Mama often talked about the hard times they endured during those times.
World War Two brought William Thompson Entrekin into her life and they married on May 22, 1945. Before his death, they were married for 53 years.
After the war they made their home in Easley, SC. They had two children, Caroline Jean and William Philips (Phil).
Mama enjoyed watching football. Her favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys from the time they became a team in the 1960s until her death. Her other hobbies were reading, cooking and watching TV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, son and sister. She is survived by her daughter, Caroline, son-in-law Maynard (Max) Cordrey, and step-granddaughter, Barbara Allison Cordrey.
We want to thank the members of mama’s Franciscan Hospice team, Megan, Anthony, Chris, Brenda, and Rainie. They made her last days much easier on her and on us.
Her memorial Service will be at Adventure of Faith Church, 4705 Jackson Ave. SE Port Orchard, WA 98366 at 1 PM on October 28th.
