Betty Jean Freiwald passed away November 24, 2023. She was born in Tuthill, South Dakota on October 12, 1926 to Harley H. Ernst and Amanda M Koepke Ernst. She was raised in Martin, South, Dakota where she attended grade school and graduated from Martin High school. She grew up with Three siblings, Daisy, Harley Jr. and Roger.
Betty married her high school sweetheart, Delbert Dorothy in 1942.They later divorced in 1965. They had two Daughters, Beverly and Deborah.
In 1966 Betty met and later married Warren O. (Jack) Freiwald.
Betty loved to stay busy and always had a job. She was an accomplished woman with many occupations; she was a very successful Real Estate Sales agent, a bookkeeper for various companies, a dental hygienist, jewelry assistant and more! She was very active in her community and was a member of The Officers Wives Association.
Betty loved Bowling and golf, and while in Chicago, Ill., she was presented a gold Plated Putter from Hugh Hefner. While in Cleveland Ill., on her 40th Birthday she was surprised and thrilled to have Tony Bennet sing to her personally The Happy Birthday song.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her daughter Beverly, her mother and father Amanda, and Harley, Her brothers Harley Jr., Roger, her sister Daisy, niece Joyce Sherner, and her granddaughter Anastasia T. Herriges.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah (Jim) Corso, grandchildren Emery (Curt (Jan) Herriges, Ferrol (Shonda) Davis, Kristine (Fred) Lopez and Carter Macdonald. Her Nephew William Ashby, John (Sammy) Ernst, niece Tilly (Duane) Passmore, Bek Ashby, Gwen (Rod) Brentin, Elaine (Mike) Hoelschers, Beth (Dale) Sykes, Sandra Osterbuhr.
There are two special friends, Lou & Ora Miller who was always there to help her in any way.
