Betty "June" Osborne was born the fifth of seven children on June 18, 1924 to Gladys and Dixie Belcher in Richlands, VA. She attended school in Richlands, where she was introduced to Thomas "Jack" Osborne. Upon his return from navy service in the pacific theatre, they were married in 1945.
During Jack's naval career, they lived in many places, including California; Butte, MT; Baltimore, MD; and the Philippines. Their children, Thomas David and Kathy, were born during their travels. Upon retirement from the military, Jack took a position at the Douglas County Health Department in Roseburg, OR. June became an active and valued member of her community; volunteering with the garden club and her daughter's Campfire and 4H clubs. She also joined the staff at the Douglas County Farm Bureau Office.
In 1974, Jack and June moved to Portland, OR when Jack transferred into the Department of Environmental Quality. June began to work at a local children's clothing shop. Her two grandchildren, Travis and Hllari, were always very well dressed.
Upon Jack's retirement, they built a home along the Deschutes River in the high desert of Redmond, OR. In 1992, wanting to be closer to family, Jack and June moved to Port Orchard, WA. From 1988 until 2014, they were snowbirds, wintering in Yuma, AZ each year.
June loved the outdoors and being active in nature. She was an avid gardener, bicyclist, and bargain hunter. Her positivity and unwavering strength were a force to be reckoned with.
June was preceded in death by Jack; her son, Dave, and great grandson, Tommy.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy; son-in-law, Kent; grandson Travis and his family, Curtis, Ellie, and Greyson; and granddaughter, and her partner, Hilari and Michael.
June will be buried at Willamette National Cemetery alongside Jack and son, Dave.
