Betty Smith

Betty M. Smith, 88, died at her home in Bremerton, Washington on April 9, 2005. She was born on January 29, 1917 in Clovis, New Mexico to Jack & Maimee (Haynes) Butler. Betty married Spurgeon G. Smith on February 18, 1933 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1975. Betty worked for 25 years as a Registered Nurse in California. She was also an apartment manager for Colonial Manor Apartments in Bremerton for 31 years. Betty enjoyed cake decorating and owned a cake decorating company for 25 years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bremerton. Surviving are son Spurgeon "Bob and wife Dee Smith of Belfair, Washington; daugther Gloria and husband Gus Phillips of Bremerton; brothers Eugene, Gordon, Bill, Dee Dee, and Paul Butler; sisters Shirley Wadsworth, Joyce Miller, and Sue Butler; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons William R. and Charles E Smith; and brothers Jack and John Butler. Funeral service is April 13, 2005 at 12:00 Noon at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Interment will follow at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard.
