Billy G. Miller, 73, of Port Orchard, died December 19, 2002, in Port Orchard, .He was born July 25, 1929, in Harrisburg, Ill., to Edward and Ida Mae (Milligan) Miller. He graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1948 and completed college while serving in the Navy.His Navy career extended from 1948 until his retirement as a Mustang lieutenant commander in 1970. He had been officer in charge of Pacific Fleet Missile Weapons System Training Unit in San Diego.He married Sonja E. Christensen on May 19, 1990.Mr. Miller was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2669. He also belonged to Eagles Arie 2338 and First Lutheran Church, both of Port Orchard.He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid poker player.Survivors include his wife; his mother, Ida Mae Sewell of Port Orchard; two daughters, Denise Miller of Bonita, Calif., and Deborah Kemp and her husband, Phillip of Houston; one son, David Miller of Chula Vista, Calif.; two stepsons, Douglas Nation and his wife, Lily, and Travis Nation and his wife, Jennifer, both of Port Orchard; two brothers, Dan Sewell of Platteville, Wis., and Dennis Sewell of Port Orchard; and four grandchildren, Austin, Kalie, Michael and Monica Nation. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Edgar Max Miller; and his stepfather, Llewelyn Sewell.A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard with interment at Sunset Lane Cemetery, also in Port Orchard.Arrangements are under the direction of Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.Memorial donations may be made to First Lutheran Church Building Fund. 2483 Mitchell Road, Port Orchard, WA 98366.
