Bonnie Laray Loop

December 1, 1934 — December 5, 2022

Bonnie was born December 1, 1934 at home in Harlowton, Montana to Lillian (Silvernail) Olund Moen and Clarance B. Olund and died December 5, 2022 in Silverdale, Washington with her family at her side. She moved to Central Kitsap with her parents and siblings when she was about 4 years old when her stepfather, Ole Moen, went to work in the Navy Shipyard. She went to elementary school in Central Valley and was a cheerleader at Central Kitsap High School from which she graduated in 1953. She worked in her teens with her mother in concessions at the Charleston Theater in Bremerton, which was owned by her sister and her husband Arlis and Art Fox. She was a fantastic dancer and loved to swing dance. Especially with her brothers. She would talk about teaching her brothers' friends to dance when she was in school.

She married Herbert Loop on December 29, 1956, whom she had met on a blind date at Pearl's Pavilion in Bremerton and started their family. After living in Poulsbo and Sequim for several years, they settled in Port Orchard in 1965. Bonnie was a stay-at-home Mom and was active in the Parkwood community. Bonnie was an accomplished seamstress and made many of the clothes her children wore growing up. She loved to knit and crochet. The family had a second home on Mason Lake where they spent many happy summers. Bonnie was a sun worshipper and loved spending time on the water with friends and family.

Bonnie had a standing weekly lunch and card playing date for many, many years with her good friend Nancy Lyman. She loved to paly cards. Any game from Bridge to Cribbage to Texas Hold-Um and she was a very lucky gambler. Bonnie was a great bowler and was on leagues in Poulsbo, Port Orchard, and Bremerton. She bowled on leagues for more than 60 years of her life. Bonnie was an active member of the Bremerton Elks and the Lady Elks for years. She spent many happy afternoons after work with all her friends in the lounge at the Elks.

Bonnie went to work at the Naval Supply Center, Puget Sound after her divorce in the early 1980's and retired from there after a great career. She loved her job as a purchaser for the Navy. After retirement, Bonnie moved to Sierra Vista, AZ to be close to her sister Janice and lived there for 14 years. She joined the Sierra Vista Elks and was very active with that lodge. She loved to travel and made many little trips with Janice and her brother-in-law Ray in the motorhome with the Elks Travel Group. She loved to go on cruises and took many with friends and family. One of her favorite trips was with friends from the Elks in Bremerton to London, England for New Year's Eve! Another memorable trip was in 1975 to Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti.

Bonnie moved back to Bremerton in 2018 and moved in with her daughter Samantha and son-in-law Jimmy. A special thank you to granddaughter Lesli and daughter Robin for their help with her care the last year.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bradley Cecil; siblings, Arlis (Arhur) Fox, Janice (Ray) McKey, Cecil Olund (Eileen, Linda), Gary Olund (Shirley), and ex-husband Herbert E. Loop.

She is survived by children; Samantha (James Boscola Loop, Robin (Gregg) Scott and Kevin Loop.
