Bonnie Jean MacDonald, 81, of Port Orchard died of cancer at Northwood’s Lodge in Silverdale on March 28, 2009. She was born on November 5, 1927 in Brainerd, MN to Lewis and Eva (Hollingsworth) Buchite. She married Paul MacDonald on October 15, 1954 in Yakima and he preceded her in death in 2005. She owned MacDonald’s Open Market, a seasonal fruit stand on Hwy 101 in Hoodsport for over 40 years retiring in 1996. She also worked in many grocery stores in the area including TBM/Saverite Grocery. She was a member of Abundant Life Foursquare Church in Bremerton and was active in the DAV in Gorst. She loved taking trips to Hawaii and raising flowers. She also loved to help the needy with any necessities freeing giving groceries, furniture, appliances or money to help people and families get back on their feet. She was always praying for other people’s needs and concerns. She is survived by her son Jerry MacDonald of Milpitas, CA; daughters Paulette Lavender of Shelton, Lana Sanders (Carl) of Kirkland and Tami McCaslin (Mike ) of Port Orchard; sisters Mina Crowder (Martin) of Toppenish and Carol Gowler of Graham; and six grandchildren Jerry MacDonald, Jr., David, Jake and Jackie MacDonald, Crystal Edmonson and Amber Lavender. Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.
