Brent Reed Thatcher, 47, of Belfair died June 25, 2004, at the University of Washington Medical Center, following a short, well-fought battle with cancer. Brent was born July 18, 1956, in Logan Utah, to Reed and Gloria Hiatt Thatcher. He graduated from Bingham High School Copperton, Utah, in 1974. He spent four years active duty in the United States Air Force and later retired from the Air Force Reserves. He worked at the Defense Depot Puget West (DDPW) from where he planned to retire this year, after thirty years of Civil service. Brent was passionate about many things in his life: his faith in Christ, his conservative political views, his right to bear arms, but most importantly his two kids: Aimee - his peanut, and Derek - his dude. Brent was such a fun, free spirit and very much lived for "today." He enjoyed going to the shooting range, karaoke, skydiving, watching movies on his home theatre system, shopping for and working on cars, barbecuing and playing with his dog, Chiquita and grandpuppies, Maximus and Maddie. Survivors include his companion, Barbara, of Belfair; daughter Aimee Rachell Thatcher (Robert Curry) of Port Orchard; son Derek Brent Thatcher (Julie) of Syracuse, Utah; parents Reed and Gloria Thatcher of Sandy, Utah; brother Randal Thatcher (Shari) of Seattle; sister Becky Nielsen (Glade) of West Jordan, Utah; nieces Katie Nielsen, Joni Nielsen, Brooke Nielsen and nephew Ryan Nielsen, all of West Jordan, Utah. Brent is also survived by the mother of his two children, Becky L. Thatcher of Syracuse, Utah. A wake in celebration of Brent's life will be held on Monday, June 28, at 4 PM at the Original Thai Taste Restaurant, 2505 Mile Hill Drive, Port Orchard, WA 98366. A memorial service will be held in Utah, Thursday July 1.
