A GOOD MAN PASSED THIS WAY
Bret Lee Townsend of Belfair Washington was a good man. Beyond being remembered, Bret
leaves a Legacy.
No one asked Bret for help. He was helping and doing his best to make your life better before
you could ask. From grade school giving and customizing neighborhood kid’s bicycles to the end
of his time here by uplifting everyone at the cancer center where he was being treated, Bret never
stopped doing all he could to make life better for people around him. If you needed to talk, he
listened. If you needed help, he helped. If he could build something to help or cheer you up, he
built it and gave it to you. His life was always secondary to your life.
Bret was an excellent cook. He taught himself to cook using Dutch Ovens and smokers in
addition to traditional kitchens. When Bret brought Dutch Ovens to a potluck at work or a family
gathering, you could feel the excitement and anticipation.
As a child, Bret displayed a very strong aptitude for mechanics. His Grandfather took him in and
taught him all the fundamental knowledge and skills needed and it led Bret to an outstanding
career.
When the opportunity came for Bret to expand his education Bret excelled. Finishing near the
top of his classes, he attained AA degrees as a Millwright and HVAC certification. Bret excelled
as a mechanically focused technician and metal fabricator in every position he held. Always
willing to share his knowledge, Bret held himself and his close friends to very high standards of
competency.
Bret leaves his fiancé Denice Arcoren, father Clint Townsend, brother Glen Townsend, niece
Jennifer Townsend, nephew Steve Townsend and a host of non-biological “family” members,
relatives and friends. Bret is joining his brothers Clint and Doug Townsend and his loving
mother Janice Townsend who preceded him.
Bret, the world is a better place for the people that you loved and all those that you touched as
you passed by here. Thank you from all of us.
