Carl William Armstrong, Sr., 89 of Port Orchard, died in Bremerton on February 21, 2014. He was born January 13, 1925 in Columbus, KS to Charles & Pearl (Edgemond) Armstrong. He attended the University of Iowa and married Joan M. Ginthner on October 17, 1946 in Port Orchard, WA. She preceded him in death in 1988.
Carl was an Electrical Engineer for 30 years at PSNS, retiring in 1980. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1949. He enjoyed reading history and mysteries, coin collecting, had model cars of the pre- 1960 era, and liked to travel. He attended First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard and was active with American Legion Post 30 and VFW, both in Port Orchard.
Surviving are companion Jean Gardner; sons Bill (Jan) Armstrong of Redmond, WA and Michael (Dee) Armstrong of Silverdale; Grandchildren Nelson & Elliott; Sisters Grace Moody of Olathe KS and June Mitts of Topeka, KS; and extended family Louise Ness and the Lund family - Ronald, Richard, Delores, Margaret, Lorrain, Judy, and Cheryl & Frank. He was preceded in death by siblings Robert John, Fred & Marie Clinesmith.
Viewing Monday, March 3rd from 3-5:00 pm at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Graveside service March 4th at 11:00 am at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard and a Memorial Service at First Lutheran Community Church on March 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
