Carl Baumann

Carl Raymond Baumann was born January 8th, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio. He passed away Friday night October 7th at the VA Hospital in Seattle, Washington. He is member of the Family Church of God Pentecostal in Gorst, Washington. He is preceded in death by his father Carl Richard Baumann. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Peggy Maxfield Baumann in Port Orchard, Washington; his mother Mildred Baumann of Georgia; sisters - Sharon Bowman of Georgia and Kathryn Hoffman of Ohio. Carl leaves children Carla Wolford of Ohio, Shawn Murphy, Sherry Trent and Les Meadows of Washington. He will also be missed by son-in-laws Carson Trent and Johnny Murphy of Washington, and Richard Wolford of Ohio, five grandchildren, Leslie, Linda & Joey Meadows, Nicky Bowling and Sydney Murphy. His grandchildren were dear to his heart and meant more than words can say, but in their hearts they each hold their precious memories of thir grandfather, and they know his love for them is sincere. Four great-grandchildren, Micky Meadows, Katie Bowling, Kathleen Meadows and (Emily Bowling due 11-07-05). Mickey made Carl a great-grandfather, which made Carl a very happy man and he was anxious to get to Ohio to see him, which he did. He wanted to see baby Kathleen when she was born, but couldn't make the trip. Great-granddaughter Katie was a daily love and entertainment therapy for her Grandpa Carl during a month stay in the hospital in 2003. She was a shining star that flew in from Ohio to be with her Grandpa Carl as she calls him. Granddaughter Sydney, would flash her smile, raise her arms to him saying Da-pa. She was a daily joy to him, as she lived close by. Carl loved and treasured each of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carl served in the United States Navy for ten years with an honorable discharge. Later in life he became a 100% Disabled Veteran. Carl retired from John Controls in 2002. Upon retirement he loved traveling with his wife Peggy. They traveled back and forth across the states several times, went to Mexico and enjoyed an awesome family vacation in Hawaii in 2004. He enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, golfing, computer games and he was known to buy a few lotto tickets and enjoyed an occasional visit to a casino. Carl was a good man with a heart of gold. He was loved by many and will be missed more than words can say.
