Carl Payne

Carl Joseph Payne, age 92, died Oct. 29, 1999 in Bremerton, WA.  He was born Dec. 10,1906 in Festus, Missouri to Joseph and Alice Payne. He was raised in Popular Buff, Missouri.  He served in the U.S. Navy.  His most recent job was as a Welder Supervisor at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.  He worked there for 35 years before retiring in 1962.  He was a life member of F & AM of Washington; Port Orchard Lodge #98, Washington Senior Golf Association; and a former member of the Kitsap Golf and Country Club.  He married Helen Aarshaug on Feb. 21, 1978 in Bremerton, WA.  He is survived by his wife Helen Payne of Bremerton, WA., stepson Bernie Whittaker and wife Mary, stepdaughter Marcia Serwold and husband Roger; grandchildren Kurt Serwold and wife Jennifer, Karl Serwold and wife Tracy, Scott Whittaker, Jay Whittaker, and 5 great grandchildren.  Memorial services will be held at the Rill Chapel Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999 at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers send memorials to Hospice of Kitsap County, PO Box 3416, Silverdale, WA, 98383 or Humane Society of Kitsap County, 9167 Dickey Rd NW, Silverdale, WA 98383.
