Candy Thompson died July 25, 2024 after a long battle with myelofibrosis. She was at home surrounded by family and friends. All of us are thankful she is no longer in pain.
Candy lived life with passion and conviction. Family was huge to her, whether her biological family or those many friends she called family, and she loved us all fiercely. Her brothers and sisters teased, loved and watched over her throughout her life. Her grandson Henry brought absolute joy to Candy whenever they were together.
Candy was born in Sandusky, Ohio on April 24, 1964. She moved to Kitsap County with her family as a young child, going to school in the South Kitsap school district. She went on to become an RN through Olympic College and later became a nurse practitioner/midwife through the University of Washington. Women’s health and health issues were a driving force in her life. She cared for her patients passionately and was very saddened when her illness forced her retirement.
She is survived by her partner, Tom McAffee; two sons, Jarrid Thompson (Danielle), Jake Thompson; grandson Henry Thompson; mother La Vonne Lynam; brothers and sisters Cindy Verge (Tom), David Lynam (Sandra), Connie Lieseke (Dan), Dana Lynam (Tracy) and Chris Bock (Sue); plus numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Lynam.
