Catherine Cecilia Miller passed away on April 11, 2021 following a 3 ½ year battle with cancer. She was born in Oakland California January 25, 1963 to Bernie and Edrhys (Reaves) Balvin. She was raised in California, along with her sister Claudia, attending school in San Leandro and Alameda before moving at age 17 to Bremerton, where she graduated from Olympic High School in 1981.
Cathy loved life experiences and learning and tried many different things following high school before finding her calling. After graduation, she returned to California, working there for a couple years before coming back to Bremerton. She went on to attend, and graduate from, the John Robert Powers Modeling and Finishing School in Seattle then moved to Everett. In 1989 her son Terry was born, after which time she moved back to Bremerton. She was working for Applied Technologies at Keyport when she met Bret; they married June 11, 1994 on the shores of the Hood Canal at the Alderbrook Inn. She went on to work for KIRO TV, and Kitsap Mental Health Services before going back to school to obtain an Associate’s Degree from Olympic College then on to Clover Park Technical School. She graduated and obtained her certification as a Pharmacy Technician in 2008 and began working for St. Anthony’s Hospital in Gig Harbor where she worked for about 10 years, until her diagnosis. Although her career was cut short, she met many new friends was known at the hospital for her hard work and dedication.
Cathy and Bret relished time spent with family and friends and enjoyed all things outdoors including hunting, fishing, crabbing and shrimping, camping, traveling, and spending time at their vacation home in Grayland, Wa. Cathy was beautiful, in-side and out, with a kind heart and a gentle soul. She was a very loving person that touched many lives. She is gone too soon and we will miss her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. To know Cathy was to be truly blessed.
She is survived by her husband Bret Miller of Port Orchard; son Terry Ward of Port Orchard; Parents Bernie and Edrhys Balvin of Bremerton; and sister Claudia (Balvin) Smith, her husband Darren and their daughters Ciara and Alia.

The Celebration of Life in June will be a open house starting at 1:00 PM with a 2:00 PM eulogy to Cathy.
