Charlene J. Ellis, 84, of Manchester, Washington died on August 24, 2006 at Willow Creek in Port Orchard, Washington. She was born on August 1, 1922 in Cherokee, Iowa to Joseph Edward & Vera Florence (Stewart) Bunker. She married Wilmer L. "Bus" Ellis on April 1, 1945 in Cherokee, Iowa. Charlene graduated from Cherokee High School in Cherokee, Iowa in 1940; Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska in 1944; and California State University at Los Angeles in California with her Masters Degree in Education. She was a 2nd grade teacher at Central Elementary School in Ontario, California for 28 years, retiring in 1982. Charlene was a member of Republican Women in Kitsap County, TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) in Port Orchard, and an AARP member and representative for the State of Washington. She enjoyed aerobics, walking, gardening, reading, cooking and hosting parties. Charlene is survived by her husband Wilmer L. Ellis of the Port Orchard; sons Rick (Martha) Ellis of Port Orchard and Dr. Randall W. (Jean) Ellis, DDS of Pueblo, Colorado; brother Jack (Dodie) Bunker of Boise, Idaho; sister Marilyn (Wayne) Winters of LaVerne, California; grandchildren Terry Kellogg, William Ellis, Wesley Ellis, Spencer Ellis, Jay Ellis and Lindsey Ellis; and great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Kellogg, Riley Anna Ellis, and Korben Kellogg. A memorial service will be held at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard on Monday, September 4, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Chapter HD PEO Sisterhood, c/o Miriam Sommer, P.O.
