Charles Erskine Brooks, 67, of Port Orchard, WA, died February 21, 2007, of a heart attack at his home. He was born April 16, 1939, in Trinidad, Texas to Russell and Lois (Penn) Brooks. Charlie graduated from Waco High School in Waco, Texas in 1957. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated from the University of Texas Dental School in Houston in 1968. He then did Post Doctoral studies at the University of Washington. Charlie owned and operated his own dental clinic for 36 years, retiring in 2003 after 30 years of service in Port Orchard and previously in Seattle. Charlie enjoyed assembling air guns from parts he bought off the internet. He was interested in automobiles, enjoyed being out in nature and music, and was a perfectionist with his work. Charlie was a good story teller and had many friends at "The Club" aka the High Tide Tavern. He is survived by a son David Porter Brooks, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister Dorothy Lynn Brooks and husband Leonard M. Diana, of Arlington, Texas; and many friends. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2007, 6:30PM at the High Tide Tavern in Port Orchard. Donations can be made to the donors favorite charity in Charlie's name.
