Charles Payne

Charles E. Payne, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2008.  Charlie was a long time resident of Port Orchard, Washington.  He was born in Wilmar, California on September 27, 1928.   He served as a Flight Instructor for the U.S. Navy in Pensacola, Florida where he met and married his lovely wife Betty on January 5, 1951, and later relocated to Junction City, Oregon.  While working as an Electronics Technician, he traveled the world working in such places as Japan, Iran, Borneo, Bolivia, and Columbia.  He retired from Boeing after 25 years of dedicated service.  A dedicated and accomplished violinist and fiddle player, he was well known for his fine musicianship in this community, playing for many years with "The Old Time Fiddlers", and with various music groups in the area including South Kitsap High School musical productions.  He is survived by his wife, four children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.  Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Rill's Life Tribute Center, 1151 Mitchell Ave, Port Orchard.
